Why I have been MIA

 

Hey guys. I know, I know. I haven't written a blog post in 6 months. You are probably wondering where I've been.

First of all, I was in a MAJOR slump. I barely read anything new. I tried out audiobooks and physical copies. It took me a while to get out of the slump. I could not get the energy to pick up a book. I began listening to the audiobook for Taming 7 since my slump was so bad. Once I finished that, I tried picking up some other books on Kindle Unlimited, but I sort of DNF'd those. I also listened to Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter on Audible to break my slump. I got the urge to read Releasing 10. I read the physical copy of it in 4 days. That book was over 700 pages. So that says a lot. A book review for that is coming soon. I received a Kindle for Christmas, and I read Crossroads by Devney Perry while on vacation, which helped me barely meet my reading goal. 

I wanted to explain my long absence: I moved from one slump to another while burning out trying to create and come up with content for both booktok and my blog. But, I'm glad to be back.

IM BACK!!

 Hi everyone!

I am back from my haitus. I am sorry I have been MIA. I have been pretty busy. I am back though. 

Where do I begin???

I just finished Keeping 13 the other day, and I read a few pages in Saving 6. I havent had much time to read. I started a new job so that had been taking up my time. I have also been posting alot on my booktok. If you haven't followed me on there, I would suggest to give me a follow!

I'm gonna try to read some more and I will be back to you.

Monday ~ June 30

Hello!! Again, I am so sorry there was no post yesterday. I have been terrible.

Anyways, I've been slowly reading Keeping 13 but I have been a little busy. I've been loving it though nonetheless. I am really enjoying Johnny and Shannon's relationship. Boys of Tommen has slowly became one of my favorite series. These characters are living rent free in my head. I am not mad about it though. 

If I get to finish this book this week, I will be reading the next book in the series, Saving 6. I will be sad that I will no longer be reading about Johnny and Shannon but I have heard good things about the rest of the series.

Binding 13 ~ Thursday June 26

 Hi Besties!

I did not post my random ramblings yesterday so I apologize! I did not get arounf to it because I was so hooked on starting Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh. 

Here is my Binding 13 Review. 

Synopsis: 

"Binding 13" tells the story of Shannon Lynch, a young woman who transfers to a new school, Tommen College, seeking a fresh start after years of bullying.She unexpectedly catches the eye of Johnny Kavanagh, a popular rugby player, despite her attempts to remain unnoticed. Johnny, grappling with a painful injury that threatens his career, is drawn to Shannon's vulnerability and hidden bruises. Their connection deepens, but both characters are hesitant to reveal their past traumas, leading to a relationship filled with tension and undeniable attraction.

Review: 4.5 🌟

This book was so good! I totally loved Johnny, but the slow burn was a bit much for me. Still, I couldn’t stop reading and ended up glued to it for four hours! My heart really hurt for Shannon. But the way everything came together with them was awesome. That cliffhanger at the end? Ugh, I need to dive into the next book right away! I get why everyone is all about "Binding 13." I had never read a slow burn before but it was definitely sooo slowburn. Like I did not get any romacne until the end. It was overal a good book though. I was debating between a 4 and 5 star. So, I am settling on 4.5 stars.

Monday ~ June 23

 Hi Besties,

Kindle Unlimited has quickly become my new best friend, providing me with endless reading options. I recently started Binding 13, and I’m finding it quite engaging; the storyline and characters have already captured my attention. I’m also considering starting Mile High by Liz Tomforde, which has received great reviews and seems like a fun read. Lately, I've been struggling to find time for reading due to my busy schedule, so I’ve been making it a point to read at night when things settle down. In fact, I haven't picked up a physical book in quite a while; most of my reading has been digital. In addition to my reading, I've been actively posting on my BookTok account. I try to share new content at least twice a day, discussing the books I'm reading and interacting with fellow book lovers. Although I haven't received many likes or followers yet, I view it as a work in progress and am excited to continue building my presence in the book community.

Review: 

Wow. This is a small town romance with found family, complicated pasts, and a guy who refuses to give up on the girl who swears she doesnt deserve him. It follows Halle, a twenty-three-year-old trying to raise her two teenage brothers after life completely falls apart, and Caleb- the town’s golden boy who won’t leave her alone, no matter how many walls she puts up. It’s emotional, it’s messy in the best way. The romance was so so good! Caleb is such a swwet guy, and he is definitely a book bf favorite. This book was so well written, and really dived into their story. The ending was so unexpected, but it ended well. I loved how this book was interconnected with her other series -The Confidence of Wildflowers. I rated this book a 4 stars! And the spice level was definitely a 5, but it was so good! It was also cool to see how the title really ties into the book!

Random Ramblings ~June 18

Hey everyone! Welcome to the second edition of Random Ramblings!

My random rambling is my kindle. I've been reading on my IPAD instead of physical books recently. I have been getting through a lot more books by doing this. It has been great. The motivation is flowing, and I could probably up my reading goal. Micalea Smeltzer has become one of my favorite authors and I am not mad about it! I could never figure out how to cancel my kindle unlimited after I did a free trial. So, it was just charging me each month and I was not using it. Now, I have been and it has been the best experience!!

Tuesday ~ June 17th!

Hey Besties, 

I am posting this blog today because I accidentally forgot to upload yesterday! 😓 Do not kill me!! I apologize!

I am continuing reading on my Ipad with my Kindle Unlimited! I have been reading every night before bed! I am currently reading "The Persistence of Thornes" by Micalea Smeltzer!! She has turned into one of my favorite authors. I've been getting through my book pretty quickly. 

I am either going to pick up a book from my physical TBR for my next read, or something from my Kindle. I am not sure!!

Sunday ~ June 15th!

Happy Sunday everybody!! This was my first official  full week with my blog and I am loving it. Alot has happened since I last checked in!! I read two books! Yay!

I enjoyed "The Endurance of Wildflowers" by Micalea Smeltzer, but I can’t help but wish it were longer. I was hoping for more time to delve into the story of the new baby. Additionally, I didn’t particularly like how the book was divided into holiday segments instead of being a cohesive narrative. Although I knew it was a shorter read, just 144 pages, it was not  a complete book—it was the 2.5 installment in the series. I’ve read all the books in this series and loved each one. Smeltzer also released another book set in the same universe called "The Persistence of Thorns," and I’m eager to read it soon!

I read "Until Then" in two days, technically one. I really enjoyed this book. I started reading a few pages on Thursday, and I ended up finishing it in basically one sitting because I was hooked and couldn't get enough. The spice level is a 5. The cover on Kindle Unlimited caught my eye, so I decided to give it a read, and it did not disappoint! I would rate it 3.5 out of 5. I liked the characters, but I wish there had been more interactions with his family, and I would have liked to see a bit more character development from Izzy.

I got new books to add to my physical TBR! I am super excited to be getting back into my reading journey. Though, it is not helping my bank account very much. I have also been taking full advantage of my kindle unlimited!

Random Ramblings - June 11th

I’m currently obsessed with Sonny Angels! Anyone else? I absolutely love them! I was thrilled to catch the restock of the "I Love Rainy Days!" series yesterday. I can’t believe I’m finally getting my first Sonny! I also ordered two duplicates from a TikToker's website, but having a genuine one coming makes it even better! The anticipation is building, and I cannot wait to see which figure I receive. I have also been enjoying watching Sonny Angel unboxings on TikTok.

Last night, I finished my book, "Great Big Beautiful Life", and I’m feeling a bit sad about it. Now I need to decide what to read next. A few months ago, I started "Nothing Like the Movies" by Lynn Painter but never got the chance to continue. So, that will be my next read! I read "Better Than the Movies" a while back, and it quickly became one of my favorites. I’m excited to see how I like this one. I’ll keep you all updated!

"Just for the Summer" Review

As they navigate their own emotional hurdles, the situation becomes increasingly complicated, transforming their summer into a whirlwind of emotions and self-discovery. 

Where do I begin..

This was the first Abby Jimenez book I read, and I must say that I need to read more of her work. I absolutely loved this book! It was so refreshing and helped me get out of my reading slump. Justin was such a lovable character; he embodied the saying, "If He Wanted to, He Would." He truly cared for Emma. On the other hand, Emma was a strong-willed woman shaped by a difficult past. Despite her challenges, she was able to let Justin into her life and embrace his love. Justin's goodness warmed my heart. And, the family dynamic was truly special. This book left a smile on my face,  and I will leave it at that. 😀

My Full Review:

I am truly captivated by this book. It was such an enjoyable read that I would give it a solid 4 stars. While I appreciated almost everything about it, I found the story within a story concept a bit unengaging, which failed to hold my interest. However, the way the entire narrative came together was impressive. The ending caught me off guard, but in a refreshing way. I do wish there had been more moments featuring Hayden and Alice together. Their relationship was heartwarming, and the conclusion left me feeling emotional, almost to the point of tears. I found myself wanting the story to focus more on the present rather than Margaret’s storyline, which didn't resonate with me as much. Hayden's character really stood out to me; he seemed misunderstood yet was so kind-hearted. Initially, he appeared standoffish, but it was wonderful to see how much he truly loved Alice once she got to know him better.

Here are some of the quotes that really pulled on my heart strings:

1. “I feel like you’re mine. Like you’re mine in a way no one else ever has been.”

2. “Tell me something no one knows about you,” and he’s quiet and still for so long I start to wonder if I’ve crossed a line. Then he tips his chin down to his clavicle to meet my eyes and says simply, “I’m in love with you.”

3. “It’s yours,” he offers. I laugh. “Oh? I can have the world?” “Mine,” he says, “yeah. You can have mine.”

 June 6th- Thoughts so far: I am 81% through this book and I wanted to give some of my thoughts! I really like this book so far. Emily Henry is such a skilled writer, and I love all her books. Though, I'm finding the idea of a story within a story to be quite unengaging. It's just not capturing my interest. I honestly am skipping past Margaret’s story, it's so boring.

I've always loved writing. I love talking about books, just as much as reading them. Lately, I have had an urge to create this blog.  Rilynn's Reading Corner is going to be my space. A space where I can create meaningful content, share thoughts, and all things reading! This is the perfect opportunity to connect with my fellow bookworms. :)

I do not have a strict posting schedule yet since I am just starting out. However, my goal is to write at least once a week. I hope this becomes a space where I can influence and inpire others!
